1.In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of film openings)
My film/opening sequence is a thriller/action/crime movie. our inspiration for our opening sequence came from many films however one of the most influential was the fugitive. as the idea of a crime or crimes being committed is present throughout. my media product implies drug use, drug dealing and fighting. as my target audience was teenagers I aimed to make my movie relevant to the generation now as the themes I have listed above that are in film are becoming increasingly more and more part of everyday life. my media product the way other opening sequences within the same genre as mine start. most films in my films genre begin with music in the background as they aim to build tension and suspense right from the start using some sort of eerie music however mine challenges this thriller film conventions as mine begins with a narrator instead as I was aiming to give the audience an insight (using my opening sequence) into the rest of the film. the narrating is slower and builds with the action that unfolds on screen before dropping off again towards the end of the opening sequence. unlike other films I opted for a narrator over music as I thought it would grip the audience and capture their attention more whilst still building the tension I wanted.
2. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I think that my opening sequence would be distributed by a company that distributes independent movies possibly like ex machine or the terminator (1984) would distribute my opening sequence. my film has a small budget film style, this is seen with the sort of clothing that the characters are wearing the locations, the acting within the opening sequence and the sound I that is in use within the opening as well. Some companies that wouldn’t take on our opening sequence would be companies like Disney who mainly distribute family movies so our theme of drugs might not work with their theme of films that they distribute. It backs up the fact that it wouldn’t be a big budget film because our opening would have to abide by the rules of bigger companies. Some companies that would take it on might be companies like the BBC and FILM4. The reason why they would take it on would be because of the location, the style, the attitude and the theme of the film. The reason why the BBC would take it on would be the fact that it is a British opening sequence that takes on the task of really getting to the core of society of London and what it can really be like for some people, this is important because it could be a selling point of the opening sequence. The reason why FILM4 would distribute our movie would be based around their past of distributing independent. This backs up the fact that a small to medium budget company would distribute our opening sequence.

3. How did you attract/address your audience?
The way my marketing team attracted the audience was by making social media accounts on apps such as Facebook, snap chat, Instagram and possibly even tinder and grinder and a poster to advertise our opening sequence. This was to create a marketing campaign that would draw the attention of the audience and make them invest themselves in the movie. The type of genre that we used was important to addressing the audience, this came in the form of a crime, action thriller. The fact that it is made up of 3 genres is important because it allows me and my team to hit a much wider target audience, this is because my opening would appeal to people that watch crime, action and thriller movies . Another way I’ll attract an audience is the fact that its shot in London, this gives a location that has great importance on the world stage and is known worldwide, this will also allow people to relate to it as people know where London is, this would create an attraction to the movie because people who go to London or enjoy the living/visiting the city will be interested to the opening movie. Another way we will attract my target audience is the casting choices, this is because we have used young local actors. we hope this will draw a wider crowd as people will see their is a chance for them to break onto the world stage as well as this we are hoping that people who live in London or whom are of a similar age to the actors may find it easier to relate to them and may cause them to become invested in our film.

4. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
From working on my media opening sequence I have learned a lot (pretty much all my entire media knowledge but that's not the point) about the type of editing software I needed to use, I also learnt about the type of equipment that I’d had to use for example I learnt more about the camera and how to use it. This consisted of me learning about how to set up the framing of shots, how to focus the shot and how to actually record. I have also learnt that it is not always good to just use a camera for recording sometimes when doing parts such as recording a narrator talking using a microphone which focuses on the sound alone producing a better sound quality and making it easier to hear is better. This all helped me to create my opening sequence called hunter.
5. Looking back at your preliminary task (the continuity editing task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
When i compare the preliminary task to the final product I can see that there is a massive difference in quality. in my opening sequence there are a lot of varying camera shots, which showed off more skill and required more of a creative mind set to make it work where as in my preliminary task there wasn't as much imagination and variation. So over the period of creating the opening sequence I feel like have gained a much larger variety of skills and I have formed a better idea about how to set up a camera and how to frame it well to get the shots that I want. The sound quality of the preliminary was all right however like the camera quality it could have been better. In my opening sequence the sound was much better, this was done with the use of editing and through the use of a microphone to gain a better sound quality. The mise en scene in the preliminary worked quite well this was because it was based in the school. However not all of the mise en scene worked well due to the fact that there wasn’t enough people in the shots to make it seem like a class so this is where we made a downfall for the mise en scene. Where as in my opening sequence most of the mise en scene made sense seeing as it linked to the type of opening sequence that I wanted to make. as the actors were wearing tracksuits which may be a stereotype of gang members but this makes it easy for the audience to identify the gang members as well as being able to make the audience more aware of the theme of the film as they associate tracksuits with youthful gang members who do illegal things.
